Description
The Best of Elvis, a 10" LP by Elvis Presley on the HMV label, HMV DLP 1159, Mono, 1957. A very first pressing with OXAV 289-1N & 290-1N matrix numbers and an embossed X T tax code on the side 1 centre label.
The laminated album sleeve is in very good condition on the rear, with some creasing along the opening edge and small areas where the laminate has peeled. The front is in a similar condition, plus there is a 2 inch tear on the opening edge, as can be seen in the photo, and a half inch split on the bottom edge. The spine has some tiny splits in it, one of which has obliterated the 'o' in The Best of Elvis.
The polythene-lined inner sleeve with handling and care instructions is in excellent condition, with some discoloration and 2 minuscule splits to the opening edges.
The vinyl has a high gloss shine and mainly superficial marks and considering it's age, is in excellent condition. The centre labels have a tiny amount of wear around the spindle holes and a not excessive amount of spindle marks. Audio is vibrant and clear, with occasional pops here and there and light background noise during some quieter segments and overall, I would grade the record between very good and excellent.
An opportunity to acquire a fine example of this rare and valuable record that is worth almost £400 in mint condition.

Vinyl Gradings:
Mint = no signs of use. Near Mint = slight signs of use but plays as if new. Excellent = more signs of use but sound unaffected. Very Good = as above plus minor background noise that does not unduly detract from overall enjoyment. Good = as above but with more marks and background noise that is hard to ignore. Fair = as above plus playback sticks and/or jumps.
Sleeve Gradings:
Mint = as new. Near Mint = almost as new. Excellent = minor wear/creases evident around some corners and edges. Very good = showing more wear/creases/stains but fairly sound . Good = as above plus torn/faded/scuffed.
