Description

These are videos I took of the actual 45 listed here!

For Your Listening Pleasure:

Elvis Sun 223 Mystery Train / I Forgot to Remember to Forget. This is an original copy of this single.Trail-off numbers are 45-u-156x 20and 45-u-157x 20. Label is very clean and easy to read. There are youtube videos available on this listing to hear this fantastic record and see the very record you are going to bid on playing.

If you are not familiar with the "Sun sound" on these records, there are many good websites on how the recordings were done. They play like a 78rpm. The recording methods were primitive and it gives an overwhelming "airy" effect. This is just part of the record and not groove wear. Even the near mint ones will have this sound.

The record grades VG by my standard or 5 out of 10 (please see condition section for more detail). If you are looking for the crown jewel there are a couple on right now that would suffice and I think the money these eBayers are asking is fair, if in fact they are the real deal which I believe they are. The nice thing about these 45s is there is no doubt they are legitimate because they reflect years of being well "loved". If you are looking for a fine gap filler until you can score that store stock copy that Granny hid away years ago, any of these will do fine. Remember these records are about to hit that 60 year mark where a VG 45 can become a VG+ because of the slide given to recordings of this age. Be weary of Near Mint copies. I'm not saying there not out there, I'm saying they don't hit eBay. Those in the know, know. These all play from start to finish and do not skip. These  records are like owning a piece of Rock N Roll history and it saddens me to part with them but it's time. I don't care who you are, everybody is enamored with the "Elusive" Elvis Sun record. I remember when my wife first found a Mystery Train, years ago, after I had brought home a collection. She held it up like it was a jewel and said "I've never seen Elvis on this label". And by all rights it is a Jewel, It's a Freakin' Elvis Sun! People that don't know anything about records and can't understand why people like us, collect and preserve these RnR treasures for our lifetime, know what an Elvis Sun is. To me it's the pinnacle of  Rock record collecting. Yes, there are more rarer records out there but they are not as appreciated in all circles such as "The Elusive Elvis Sun". Here is your chance to own a primo collectible in middle of the Grade scale condition that won't break the bank!

GRADING SYSTEM

Mint = Only reserved for Sealed records or store stock new 45s. 10/10 Top Copies

Near Mint =  The record may have been played once or twice on good equipment. Near Mint vinyl should sound and look New when dust is cleaned off and the records played with a properly aligned cartridge and good needle. A Near Mint cover should be one that either looks new or still has the shrink wrap on it. Near Mint is usually reserved for record collectors that don't mind spending premium in order to get the best quality copy of a recording. 9 out of 10

Excellent = 8 out of 10 A record should have maybe one blemish such as fingernail or scuff on the surface that does not affect play. It should be veiwed as Near Mint to most collectors, but for the super picky collector such as myself that check them with a 100 watt light bulb before it ever gets played, it is veiwed as 8/10.

Very Good ++ = 7 Out of 10. A VG++ record may have a few blemishes on each side and will still play with High Fidelity.

Very Good + = VG+ is a grade that I use for most lps that have been played a handful of times with care. It may have one or two scratches (should not be feelable with finger) that DO NOT affect play or some sleeve scuffs from being pulled and played. When put on your record platter a VG+ record should sound great. There should not be overwhelming background noise (when properly cleaned). Pops and Skips from deep scratches are unacceptable.  You should be able to listen to a VG+ record time and time again and not have to worry about damaging it because its not in top collectable shape anyway. 6 out of 10

Very Good =   A vg record has been played numerous times or not stored properly, such as party records that were stacked on top of each other instead of being returned to the inner sleeve. Gap Filler. These should play with background noise but will skip and will not hurt your needle. Don't be afraid of surface scratches, your stylus takes a bigger beating every time it crosses the matrix numbers in the trail off. Besides its what's in the groove that counts. 5 out of 10

Remember to achieve this sound quality you need to have your equipment properly set up. Never put too much weight on your stylus, 1.5 grams is sufficient for most  cartridges.
