Description
I clearly remember driving home one summer morning about 2 AM listening to the Smilin' Eddie Hill DJ show from WSM Nashville. Eddie made quite a to-do over a new artist he was playing for the first time - Elvis Presley - Blue Moon of Kentucky. That song made such an impression that I still remember, 50 years later, that very spot of highway where I heard my first Elvis. I went straight to a record store, and of course they didn't have it, but they had a new catalog, so I ordered. I remember the girls behind the counter being amused at some country kid being so excited about someone named Elvis. I don't remember if I had a choice of 45 or 78 rpm, but I ended up with this 78. It may have only been available on 78 at that time. I was one happy kid. I was playing in a little country band at the time, and we quickly learned Blue Moon of Kentucky, and That's All Right. We didn't sound quite like Elvis, but we just thought it was because we didn't have the slap bass. I think the photos show all the numbers and markings. I am not a collector, but from the Goldmine Standards, I would rate it Very Good+ (VG+). No deep scratches, no skips. There is definite background noise, but it is a 78. The grooves show wear in places, mostly on the Blue Moon side, but these places don't seem to have more noise than other areas. Feel free to contact me regarding markings or condition. The record will be shipped between masonite sheets, wrapped in bubble wrap, boxed, then packed in a larger box with foam pellets, and will be insured for the full purchase price.
