COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL PLAIN WHITE INNER SLEEVE WITH UK PATENT NUMBER AND "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" TEXT PRINTED IN BLACK

Lively, ambitious and entirely successful debut album, made up of keyboard-dominated instrumentals ("The Barbarian," "Three Fates") and romantic ballads ("Lucky Man") highlighting all three members' very daunting talents
The album showcased the group at its least pretentious and most musicianly and it shows the beginnings of a dark, savage, imposingly gothic edge that had scarcely been seen before in so-called "art rock," mostly courtesy of Emerson's larger-than-life organ and synthesizer attacks.
Greg Lake's beautifully sung, deliberately archaic "Lucky Man" had a brush with success on FM radio, and Carl Palmer became the idol of many thousands of would-be drummers based on this one album (especially for "Three Fates" and "Tank"), but Emerson emerged as the overpowering talent here.
An extremely impressive, powerful debut

Side 1: The Barbarian / Take a Pebble / Knife Edge
Side 2: The Three Fates: Clotho-Lachesis-Atropos / Tank / Lucky Man

LABELS: EXCELLENT++
Clean, bright labels with light/moderate spindle traces, more on Side Two than Side One but not excessively played and then only on top quality equipment as there is absolutely no hint of groove-wear or distortion
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both vinyl surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen and are practically unmarked
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
Play-checked at loud volume the sound performance is stunning - strong, sharp, rich and warm and incredibly immediate and it plays with no major audible distractions of any kind - no scratches, no loud clicks/pops or any significant surface noise - the quiet sections of 'Take A Pebble' and 'Tank' are exceptionally clean and the piano parts on 'The Three Fates' shows no signs of distortion (which can be a common problem)
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT++
Crisp, sharp and fresh matt cover with only a little storage rub to the edges (all spine text is clear and bold) - none of the heavy ring-wear commonly found on this untreated sleeve.
Overall, a great copy of this rare first Pink Island pressing - sounds sensational
