Up for bids is an original Mono Jazz LP by J.J. Johnson called "The Eminent Jay Jay Johnson Volume 1" on Blue Note Records. BLP 1505. Released in 1955.
Features Clifford Brown, Charlie Mingus, Kenny Clarke, Paul Chambers and many more!
This has addresses "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" on the back of cover, and "767 LEXINGTON AVE NYC" on both labels.
Deep Groove!
RARE FLAT EDGE PRESSING ON HEAVY VINYL!
"?" (Registered Trademark symbol) is NOT at the bottom of both labels.
AGAIN, edges of record are FLAT!
Matrix (or trail-off) numbers have a hand-etched "RVG" then the hand-etched "BN-LP-1505-A.", the "ear" and finally a hand-etched "9M" for Side 1, and the hand-etched "RVG" then the hand-etched "BN-LP.-1505-B.", the "ear" and finally a hand-etched "9M" for Side 2.
Comes with original rice paper inner sleeve in Good+ condition.
NOTE:
The grades I use are Mint (rarely used grade), Near Mint, VG+++ (rarely used grade), VG++, VG+, VG, VG Minus, Good+, Good, Fair and Poor.
Cover is a STRONG VG condition. Some minor wear on the front and back. Back of cover's bottom artwork has some fraying. Bottom has an 8 3/16" split at the opening. No other splits on cover.
I would rate the record’s condition as a STRONG VG+. Has some minor marks on both sides that don't greatly affect play. A couple deep scratches cause some ticks but nothing horrifying. Minor distortion at times thankfully does not last long. One of the most amazing sounding original Jazz records I have ever had on my player!
Makes a great gift for any J.J. Johnson, Clifford Brown, Charlie Mingus, Kenny Clarke or Jazz record fan in general!
