WE CAN THINK OF NO OTHER PERFORMER OR ARTIST WHOSE INTEGRITY, INTELLIGENCE AND JUST PLAIN CLASS AND BEAUTY COMMAND SUCH AN UNIVERSAL RESPECT. THE LADY IS SIMPLY AN EPITOME OF SUBSTANCE, FEMINITY AND SUBLIME GRACE: EMMYLOU HARRIS IS NOT JUST A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, SHE ALSO HAPPENS TO BE THE SINGLE MOST TALENTED ARTIST TO APPEAR ON COUNTRY, FOLK AND ROCK SCENE IN THE PAST 40 YEARS. HER MERE PRESENCE COULD ELEVATE AND ILLUMINATE ANY PERFORMER OR ARTIST SHE PLAYS AND SINGS WITH, EVEN SOME, ER…UNSEEMLY CHARACTERS. THIS ALBUM WHICH CAME OUT IN 1976, IS HER MOST SUCCESSFUL AND CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED WORK TO DATE. THE BACKUP BAND CONTAINS THE BEST STUDIO MUSICIANS ASSEMBLED ON A COUNTRY ALBUM AND IS THE CREAM OF THE CROP OF BOTH GRAM PARSONS' (JUST DEERLY DEPARTED) AND ELVIS PRESLEY (THEN ABOUT TO BECOME DEARLY DEPARTED) BANDS; THE ALBUM COMPRISES MOSTLY (BUT NOT ONLY) OF ORIGINALS, OR SONGS WRITTEN EXPRESSLY FOR EMMYLOU. 'GENTLE ROLLING HILLS' (ON THIS ALBUM) HAS GOT TO BE OUR FAVORITE EMMYLOU HARRIS BALLAD OF ALL TIME (NOTWITHSTANDING THE GORGEOUS 'BOULDER TO BIRMINGHAM', WHICH IS NOT ON THIS ALBUM). PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONE OF THE FIRST AUDIOPHILE LP'S EVER TO BE ISSUED ON MOBILE FIDELITY LABEL, AND - AS SUCH - A RARITY OF MAJOR PROPORTIONS.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire this great album in its FINEST audio format, no longer in print, and no longer easily obtainable.

·                               CONDITION:

·                               THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in a hi-grade MFSL PVC inner sleeve, which has - apparently with success - shielded the record from the harmful impact of elements over many years!

(c)           The album comes with the original insert/sheet (MFSL catalog)

(d)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(e)             In addition, the record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(f)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       THE COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some ring wear.  On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 5.

-         The cover has a few visible scratch marks on both sides

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the bottom seam and spine

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams

-         Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS OR IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
