Description

ENSA (ENTERTAINMENTS NATIONAL SERVICE ASSOCIATION) 78RPM/LP CASE. WORLD WAR II..

Entertainment national service association risked their life’s to

Entertain and boost morale during the war World War II among service personnel as well as factory workers during conflict.

The item for sale is an original ENSA ( Entertainments National Service Association) record case made for transporting 78rpm 30cm/12inch discs. The case is made from fibre board (or similar) with reinforced corners and internal cross-struts. The case is in two parts with the larger fitting snugly over the smaller. The external dimensions are circa 330mm x 330mm with a depth of 110mm and the internal dimensions of the smaller part (the one that holds the records) are circa 325mm x 325mm with a depth of 100mm. The case will easily hold sleeved 30cm/12inch records, whether they are 78rpm discs or LPs. The depth is too small for CDs to stand upright with their spines showing. ENSA was an organisation set up in 1939 by Basil Dean and Leslie Henson to provide entertainment for British armed forces personnel during World War II. ENSA operated as part of the NAAFI (Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes). The record case was probably used to transport records to service bases, canteens, mess rooms and wireless stations etc.The case is in good condition, with the black surface printing very clearly legible. The case has some marks, including yellow grease-pencil annotations on the sides (see the photographs).

Refer to the photographs - these very clearly show that the case is in good condition, especially that it is over 100 years old.The record case is a lovely collector's item and of interest to re-enactors as part of a living history display or even a DJ specialising in period music.Just to be clear, I have used a 30cm/12inch 78rpm record to help show the size of the case. This is record is not included in this sale.I've made what I feel is a full and honest description to inform a prospective buyer of the item's condition.

There are 24 records inc with the sale but only some are from the original box

I’ve no idea of condition due to not having anything to play them on.

A collectors dream
