Description
Here' s one of the rarest Swiss Jazz records ever released. ENZO "SIR" NESTASIO, recorded live at the ATLANTIS Café in Basel, Switzerland in the late Fifties. Atlantis was an old jazz club in Basel, where you could hear many jazz greats and later on some beat and rock stars too. The Atlantis had a tradtion to hire some of the BEST piano players like Joe Turner, Elsie Bianchi and Don Gais. Don Gais was the first to have a live recording from the Atlantis released as a record, soon followed by Enzo Nestasio. A little bit later the recordings of famous female pianist Elsie Bianchi and her Trio were released. All of this recordings are VERY rare, but the Enzo Nestasio recording definetely rates among the rarest. The members of the The Enzo Nestasio trio were: Enzo 'Sir' Nestasio (piano), Paul Girard (bass), Shorty Staehli (drums). The 10" record is called: Jazz At The Atlantis No. 2. Side 1: I got rhythm / Our love is here to stay / Takin' a chance on love / makin' whopee Side 2: But not for me / Have you met Miss Jones / Body and soul / If I had you
The group plays very relaxing music & quite modern jazz! Great music experience.
Record Details: Catalogue number GC 684 (Ex-Libris Label). Released in 1959. Front and back cover are in EX (-) condition, some light ringwear and a little impression on the front cover, back cover has previous owner's initials. Record plays a great VG+, just some superficial signs of having been played but overall great sound - even if the live recording quality is not really HiFi to our modern ears. The labels bear the handwritten name of the original owner.
One of THE rarest Swiss Jazz recordings of the Fifties, even rare than Elsie Bianchi's live recordings from the same venue.
