Description

Up for sale is a scarce single (10 inch, 78 RPM, shellac) from "The Texas Troubadour".  The song on the A side is considered a honky-tonk classic.  The copy I am selling is the original ("master") release.

Artist:  Ernest Tubb

Label:  Decca

Record Number: 5958 A/B

A Side (93673):  Walking The Floor Over You (Ernest Tubb); Singing with Guitars and Bass

     Wax matrix marks:  "93673 A"

B Side (DLA 2233):  I'm Missing You (Mrs. Jimmie Rodgers); Singing with Guitars

     Wax matrix marks:  "DLA 2233A"

NOTE:  My understanding is that this is the original release of this record.  Per the website of Discogs, it is considered the "Master Release" as indicated by the words "Marca Registrada" that appear directly under the first "C" in "DECCA" at the top of the labels.  The A side was recorded on April 26, 1941 and the B side was recorded on October 30, 1940.

Ernest Tubb (1914 - 1984) was a pioneer of country music.  Growing up, he idolized Jimmie Rodgers.  That singer had died in 1933, but Tubb became friends with Rodgers' widow, who got him his first record contract (with RCA, prior to Decca).  Notice that the "B Side" song on the record I am selling was composed by Mrs. Jimmie Rodgers.  Tubb's "Walking The Floor Over You" was a major hit and is considered a very influential song in the development of the "honky-tonk" style of country music.

See above for complete description of condition and for photos.  NOTE:  There are some significant condition issues.  Sold as is.
