For three decades, this Texan producer has been a defining force in electro, crafting some of the genre's most revered and influential records. Microcentric, his latest release, distills that legacy into four tracks that balance precision, atmosphere and forward momentum. Or, for short, his signature sound. Side-A opens with '5080 JD 800', a masterclass in deep, perfectly weighted bass hits, glacial synth tones and a cinematic sense of space. It's dramatic, evoking a journey across an icy, alien terrain. The title track, 'Microcentric' pushes deeper into sci-fi territory, its fuzzy low-end and nimble bassline riding crisp electro beats, as if soundtracking a teleportation jump through a wormhole. On Side-B, '5080 JD 800 (Convextion Remix)' sees ERP's techno alias reframe the original in a dub techno context. Steady uptempo kicks meet electro pulses, with misty chord stabs and an ethereal background melody slowly cresting into view. The EP closes with 'Four Alone', an ambient piece of stark beauty, filled with haunting drones and a sense of dystopian vastness that feels entirely otherworldly. Microcentric is a reminder of why ERP remains an untouchable figure in electro. He just never ceases to amaze.
