This album has several musical and historical significant aspects, making it Esquivel's most desirable. First, it is one of only three or so truly great RCA Stereo Action ("The Sound Your Eyes Can Follow") albums. The music is deliberately scored for channel separation, but there is more to the stereo gimmickry than the arrangements. Not counting layered-track (multi-dubbing) efforts, Latin-Esque was the first album recorded with total stereo separation -- two separate orchestras in two separate studios performed, connected by headphones. The results are fairly fantastic. Latin-Esque also is Esquivel's first stereo album in the Latin-esque style of his great first album, To Love Again. ("Jungle Drums" from that LP is updated here.) The artist's jaw-dropping masterpiece of zany pop, "Mucho Muchacha," is a highlight. "Carioca," "La Paloma," and several other standards also were well-chosen for this project. This album was essential to the renaissance of Esquivel's popularity in the 1990s.

This is by far the hardest-to-find and rarest Esquivel album in existence. What makes this ultra-rare album so unique among Esquivel’s other RCA Living Stereo albums is that it was released on the short-lived “Stereo Action” stereophile series, which places an emphasis on stereo effects and sound gimmickry, making this set even more intriguing for any true audiophile than other Esquivel classics.

This is truly a vintage Esquivel: swirling female vocals, haunting melodies, teasing piano effects, quirky orchestration, moody and capricious rhythms…in other words, an exercise for both brain hemispheres. Absolutely indispensable in any serious Esquivel collection

"RCA Living Stereo" recordings - mostly classical, but also a handful of pop and easy listening titles - were made under the supervision of the most knowledgeable technicians and engineers on earth. The sound is simply amazing. Quiet passages are so quiet - and the surface noise so conspicuously absent - that you will not even realize that your stylus has hit the surface of the record until the music starts. The highs are high, and the lows are very low. You are going to need a subwoofer and a hypersensitive tweeter to express some of these tonal ranges appropriately. This is the music for the ears, heart, soul, mind and guts alike. Finding a still sealed original copy?!?! Forget it – not even a HOPE!!! This may be the last one you will ever see.

(c)           The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
