Description
THIS IS THE LAST ONE OF THE SEVEN RECORDS I HAD!
THIS INFORMATION WAS SENT TO ME BY A BUYER.
I HAVE MORE HISTORY WITH REGARDS TO HIM LIVING IN FT. WORTH THAT I WILL INCLUDE IN THE SALE.
According to Paul Affeldt's liner notes on a 1960s Euphonic LP, ragtime pianist Brun Campbell "was willed the last box of 25 of the original pressing of (I believe) 150 copies of this record on the Bowman label", and Affeldt got one of the last of those 25 sometime around 1950. But apparently there was another box which did not end up with Brun.
the 1964 liner notes by Paul Affeldt from which I quoted provide information on Bowman which Affeldt had obtained from ragtime pianist Brun Campbell (1884-1952). It is claimed that the "Bowman" recording was "cut on the piano he originally wrote it on, which was subsequently auctioned off to help with his funeral expenses". No details regarding the funeral itself in these notes.
In 1951, Brun's own account of what he knew about Bowman and about the proceedings after Bowman's death was published in Jazz Journal magazine (UK). According to this account, 600 new copies of the "Bowman" record were auctioned off in August 1950, together with the piano and other belongings. I reproduce this below.
Already in November 1950, Down Beat magazine (US) had quoted a letter from Brun in which he told them that the Bowman estate "was settled in Fort Worth last August. Campbell received a box of Twelfth St. Rag recordings made by Bowman himself ..." This is what he also told Affeldt.
Euday Bowman
Euday Louis Bowman lived from 1887 to 1949,he was from Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1914-5, Euday Bowman wrote the famous 12th Street Rag . It is sad to note that this creative composer who is all but unknown sold his 12th Street Rag for a mere $50.00 (also said to be $300.00) and was only able to regain the rights to it just before he died
His gravesite can be viewed at.

My husband is a Fort Worth native and played Rag many years ago. One of the Pallbearers sold the records to him. My husband stored them away all these years. They have never been played and are in perfect condition. This record has the name Eudy Bowman instead of Euday. The label reads:
