Description

THE WRIGHT GROOVE
EUGENE WRIGHT
Released by Phillips NZ 1963?
VINYL VG+ COVER VG (Minor creasing, slight foxing and minor edge wear)
One of the greatest Brubeck related sessions i've heard and a fantastic document of early 60s New Zealand jazz also. Some really beautiful playing here by Eugene Wright on this rare disc recorded during his tour with the Dave Brubeck Quartet in Wellington, 1962. Featuring Laurie Lewis, Lew Campbell & Don Branch - all leading players in the local modern NZ jazz scene at the time. You can read a little about it here http://bluesmokebook.wordpress.com/2012/12/06/maori-blues/ . I
