The EVITA Cast (Premiere American Recording) vinyl set includes a double LP record, a March 1980 playbill, and a lyrics booklet, all in a paper sleeve. This 1979 release features the original Broadway cast of the musical EVITA, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. The vinyl is in very good plus condition and comes in its original gatefold cover. With tracks sung in English, this 12" record showcases a variety of musical instruments such as trombone, clarinet, orchestra, violin, and others, making it a must-have for fans of 1970s musicals and vocal music.

The proceeds from this sale benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) is the theater community’s primary response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It is one of the nation's leading industry-based, nonprofit fundraising and grant-making organizations.

Origins and Mission

Formation: Founded in 1988, it was originally two separate organizations: Equity Fights AIDS (formed by the Actors' Equity Association) and Broadway Cares (formed by The Producers' Group). They merged in May 1992.

Core Goal: To mobilize the unique talents and resources of the entertainment industry to provide support for people living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses.

Impact: Since its inception, the organization has raised over $300 million for essential services.

Key Fundraising Traditions

The Red Buckets: During two six-week periods each year (Spring and Fall), actors from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and national tours make post-performance appeals and collect donations in signature red buckets.

Red Bucket Follies & Easter Bonnet: These are the culmination of the fundraising seasons, where cast members compete for the most funds raised and best onstage presentations.

Major Annual Events:

Broadway Bares: A high-energy burlesque show founded by Jerry Mitchell.

Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction: An outdoor market where fans can buy props, costumes, and memorabilia.

Broadway Backwards: A concert featuring gender-swapped performances of classic theater songs.

Where the Money Goes

Entertainment Community Fund: BC/EFA is the largest single financial supporter of this fund (formerly The Actors Fund), which provides a social safety net for everyone in the performing arts.

National Grants Program: The organization awards annual grants to over 450 AIDS and family service organizations across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

Direct Aid: Funds go toward providing lifesaving medication, healthy meals, supportive housing, and emergency financial assistance.
