This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

The 1st Transitional pressing from the 1/1/1/1 end matricies....Not many of these around with the same detail as the 1st pressing labels!

 GORGEOUSLY shiny vinyl.
I gave her a gentle professional clean om my Pro-Ject VC-S MkII Vacuum Record Cleaner and then played her all the way through on my Focus One Deck...W-O-W, the audio was simply SUPERB!
There were some wonderful stand-out moments with the piano being beautifully crisp on Ob La Di and a crisp and clean birdsong on Blackbird, moving on to a deep bassy start of Piggies. An absolute joy to listen to!
The singular spot of background noise I noticed was on track 1 side 2...Where there were 8 revolutionary light 'chh', due to a light mark to the extreme edge of the vinyl, just on that side. That really is the singular down point! All the other tracks play through with rich clarity.
EACH RECORD IS AS FLAT AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN.


The labels:

 All four of the labels are extremely bright and clean with the DARKER apple.
With just a small handful of incredibly light spindle marks-visible only when angled towards the light and really looking for them! Almost ZERO hole wear to each label.

Each label has the "Sold In U.K..." text.

"Mfd in the U.K." to each of the labels-on the one line, rather than the later editions, where it is split on two lines.

"An EMI Recording" printed to each side BUT without the brackets!

 It is the first run TOP loading with a great shine to her.
The laminate has only around 4 small crescents of spidering to the front and back panels, with just a couple of tiny fingers of spidering emanating from the edges-nothing at all to worry about.
Due to it's age, there are a just two age spots, but they are very light-please see the detailed images provided as they are not offensive at all....We all have age spots after 51 years of age ;)
Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold.
The spine remains beautifully strong, without any lifting.
Has the printing of Stereo to the back top right.

 Original BLACK inners.
They are both all original with the die-cut corners and window to one side of each.
They have each survived the years incredibly well!
 There is some wear to them with a small amount of feathering near the opening, a 7cm split to one side near the opening and a couple of small tears to the window of one, with the other being NEAR MINT-just light feathering to the opening!
VERY, VERY NICE INDEED.
SO HARD TO FIND SUCH DELICATE BLACK INNERS IN GREAT SHAPE.
