RARER DECCA CONTRACT PRESSING
This was The Beatles' first release on their new Apple label....I believe Mary Hopkin had he first Apple label release. The Apple label was first announced to the press in New York on the 13th of May 1968.
This wonderful song went to number 1 after entry on the 4th of September 1968-Staying there for 2 weeks.
Due to high demand, Apple contraced this single out to PYE (typically the 4 pronged push-out centre), Phillips-with the 3 pronged push-out centre and DECCA, which is the 4 pronged widde rim pressing you see here.
As typical with the Beatles, this single broke the 'normal' rules as it is 7min 11secs long, at the time-the longest single ever released.
Catalogue number: R 5722 (with larger than usual space between letter and number)
Matrix numbers:
Side 1: 7XCE 21185-1
Side 2: 7XCE 21186-1
As with DECCA pressings, there is only the Mother number at 9 O'Clock:
Side 1: 15
(As well as an etched 4 at 9 O'clock and an etched A at 3 O'clock)
Side 2: 14
(As well as an etched 1 at 3 O'clock and an etched b at 9 O'clock)
The vinyl:
Heavy 46g
She has only very faint marks to her, making her display a small amount of background noise to the start.
I gave her a gentle clean and listened to both sides-both of which played out with full force!

Labels are very clean. Would display very well.....wide rim to the central push-out section and as you can see-four pronged.
