This is a truly superb example of a classic rock album that is becoming increasingly hard-to-find in such exquisite condition. The finish on the gatefold cover is somewhere between textured and laminated which means it is susceptible to wear as can be seen on so many worn and tired copies. The sleeve of this particular record has aged remarkably well and shows very minimal signs of rubbing and shelf-wear (see photos). There are no tears or seam-splits and absolutely no writing or staining. The back cover which is almost entirely white has remained very clean. All of the writing on the spine is clearly legible. There is a bit of a crease on the inside where the record sits but you find this almost all the time with gatefold sleeves of this era. I would grade the cover as Excellent.
The record is the real star of the show from the iconic "pink i" Island label to the glossy, black mirror finish of the vinyl. Visually it is stunning without any scratches, scrapes or scuffs. You might see a few wispy hairlines when inspected under a very strong light. Listening to this classic rock record expertly demonstrates the dynamic sonic range inherent in vinyl recordings. This really is the perfect way to hear this album. Background noise is at an absolute minimum which is unusual for a record of this age. I imagine the music sounds as good as it did the day the record left the pressing plant. There is one tiny blemish on side one of the record and apart from that I would describe it as almost perfect. This very minor flaw results in a faint tick at the beginning of the third track (Lying in the Sunshine) that is audible for approximately 5 rotations or 7 seconds. I believe it might be a manufacturing error and it really is so brief that it doesn't detract from the music, but I felt that I should mention it. I have graded the record conservatively as Excellent+ but it is probably closer to Near Mint. I want you to experience how amazing this record sounds for yourself so I have uploaded a recording of the entire album at the link below.
