** Beautiful ** Low-Number U.S. Beatles White Album!
This is a fab, gear example of the Beatles’ classic White Album, Apple SWBO-101. It is complete with an excellent set of first-press discs, the 4 individual Beatle portraits on heavy-stock paper in virtually mint condition, the rare photo separator card, and a near-perfect fold-out poster, all housed in a gorgeous cover numbered A 0323278 (roughly the 1st 10% of numbered copies).
Sleeve
- Beautiful! Clean & white with a lovely gloss. Very slightly yellowed from age, but hardly obvious unless side-by-side with a virtually mint copy.
- Virtually no disc impression & very minimal rub wear.
- Spine is strong and unbroken inside & out; all text is clearly readable.
- Inside is lovely; bears “SWBO 101” text only (no Apple copyright). Centerfold slick is unbroken.
- To be picky, there is a slight ½” crease at the spine about ¼ of the way from the top on the front face, and another roughly same size on the back, about ¼ of the way from the bottom. Under bright light, if you squint, the cover is perhaps slightly yellowed toward the edges, but none of this is apparent without close inspection. Lastly, seam separations of varying lengths have all been neatly and solidly repaired.
- Spine corners show just a little paper wear and a minor bump to the top back; other corners are sharp (repaired as noted above)
- Opening edges are sharp and unfeathered.
- A wonderful, hard-to-beat cover!
Vinyl Visually (viewed under a high-intensity lamp)
- Both discs are 1st press (Capitol logo on the sliced-apple sides) and unbanded on all sides.
- Labels are clean, matte-finish with no writing or other detractions. Just a couple very light spindle marks on Disc 1; couldn’t find any on Disc 2.
- Disc 1 Side 1 is NM; Side 2 is NM- for a small non-audible scuff and a couple very light needle marks. Disc 2 shows some sleeve-extraction hairlines, still VG++ or better.
Critical Vinyl Play-grade (through headphones)
- Music throughout is clear, bright, and undistorted.
- Disc 1: Plays beautifully! Super strong VG++, arguably NM. No obvious groovewear, and only the slightest background noise (perhaps a bit more so in “Blackbird” – must have been a favorite!). No skips or even significant pops.
- Disc 2: More background crackle than Disc 1, consistent with the visual grade, but still an excellent VG+ or better.
- A wonderful listen overall!
Pics & Separator Sheet
- Beautiful, virtually mint & sure to please! Thick-card stock with rich, vibrant color.
- No scuffs, scratches, pinholes, creases, tape, thumb-bends, writing or any other such.
- Sep sheet is yellow, of a weight comparable to the photo stock.
Poster
- Clean and shiny with intact folds and minimal handling marks.
- No scuffs, scratches, pinholes, tape, writing, etc.
- An excellent example!
Original-appearing paper sleeves are included, in likewise wonderful condition for their age (the discs are in new poly sleeve liners).
