EXUMA Exuma II (Mercury SR 61314) Dr. John RARE US 1st Pressing MINT!
RARE original US first pressing of Exuma`s second album, the aptly titled "Exuma II" on Mercury Records (1970).
Although vaguely reminiscent of Dr. John`s early albums, the Bahamian voodoo rock (as it was then commonly termed) of Tony Mackay, more commonly known as Exuma "The Obeah Man" was by no means a mere copy of its New Orleans variety. Rather, Mackay plowed the deeper, darker Caribbean musical strata. As such, "Exuma II" remains even truer to the African spiritualist roots of voodoo practice.
"Exuma's second album is perhaps a little less strange and a little more sedate than his debut - but only a little. It's another combination of folk music from the Bahamas with voodoo-esque ritual not far removed from some of the more extreme New Orleans music influenced by that practice. (...) Plenty of albums based in folk traditions, and plenty of albums that are very odd, have little variety from cut to cut. - Small delete/punch hole (at top left).
- Minor storage wear to the bottom edge, from storage.

MINT(-) RECORD, bought new and played once or twice. Pretty much perfect.
-  The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "SR-61314 -A- M1" and "SR-61314 -B- M1 Daddy Yaya".
- This copy of "Exuma II" is fully certified to be a very first US pressing from 1970. It is not a re-issue!
- In truly MINT(-) condition, this copy of "Exuma II" comes from my personal collection.
