Considered the Eagles finest album, the song Hotel California was awarded the Grammy for Record of the Year in 1978 (Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” being Album of the Year). While difficult to top Hendrix or Page, the guitar solo is considered one of the finest of all time, with Don Felder and Joe Walsh, of past James Gang fame, at their best. Don Felder (music), and Don Henley and Glenn Frey (lyrics) all receive writing credit for the song, with Henley singing the lead vocals.

Beginning in 1977, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) earned a reputation for high-quality audio from its “Original Master Recording” vinyl LPs, utilizing a half-speed mastering process with the Ortofon Cutting System. The albums were remastered from the original analog master tapes as recorded in studio, and not later generation copies of that tape. Pressed in Japan on JVC’s "Supervinyl", an improvement even to 100% virgin vinyl, the process served to lower the noise found when using recycled impure vinyl, as had become common in the US in the ‘70’s. Also, this process and material improves durability, thus increasing the lifespan of a disc far in excess of mass-produced LP’s.

This limited edition, out-of-print reissue is a classic piece of rock history from its original achievement nearly 45 years past.
