Description

Up for sale are 7 Louis Armstrong 78 rpm records on the Okeh label, including some hot five and hot seven material. Records do appear somewhat beat, with some records looking pretty good while others will probably do best on an old victrola etc. Two very interesting things about this offering: 1. the presence of a quite rare and pricey Armstrong affiliated disc credited to an obscure female blues singer by the name of Bertha "Chippie" Hill, on which Armstrong plays accompaniment. 2. The presence of a signature / autograph on Beau Koo Jack, which appears to read Earl "Fatha" Hines. The deadwax includes some writing which reads "autographed by Earl Hines. For Mike." It also includes "$1000 min?" which in this context is quite humorous. I will not be testing that theory here, but this is a very nice and rare offering. I've only come across one other occasion where a 78 signed by Hines has come up for sale online. The signature is hard to read, but if you compare to verified Hines signatures it does have many similarities. He seems to have always written his name with Fatha included. Below you will find a full list of the titles and credits. Please feel free to message me with a question as I will get back to you promptly:
