Description

This is for an original incredibly rare 45 on Diamond Jim Records by Bobby and Coastaleers called No Chance for Advancement with Heartbreaker on the B side. The Diamond Jim record label began in Port Arther Texas in 1960. The first recording would be Don’t Cry on my Shoulder by The Coastaleers in 1960. Different versions of the band including Bobby and Coastaleers and Bobby and the Coastaleers would dominate records 201 through 210. The label would have slight changes, but the only other people to record on the label between 1960 and 1964 are the above incarnations of the Coastaleers along with Guitar Slim, Freddie Nolan and Ray and Royals. The Coastaleers are an important band as many of the early recordings have a teenage Johnny Winter playing guitar and singing background vocals for the band. Its tough to know which records Johnny played on, as records were never kept in such a small community recording plant but people in the know have been able to nail down which records Johnny did and did not play on. This is one of the last Coastaleers records Johnny played on before moving on to his own bands, Johnny and the Jammers and Johnny and the Crystaliers before becoming well known enough to just record as Johnny Winter. Record is clean as a whistle and plays with no major issues and is an extremely early example of some Texas rock and roll with just a hint of some early Johnny Winter
