Description
EAST OF EDEN Mercator Projected (UK) Deram (Mono) DML 1038
This is an original 1969 UK Deram mono pressing of East Of Eden's fantastic debut lp, "Mercator Projected". An amazing amalgam of many different musical influences including rock, jazz, raga, eastern and much more. Getting rare in this mono format, as by 1969 there were far fewer mono lps pressed than stereo pressings.
Dead Wax Info: Side 1 has ARL-8688-1B and 1 U all stamped into the dead wax. Side 2 has ARL-8689-1B and 1 U all stamped into the dead wax. Both sides have JT lightly stamped at 12 o'clock. Based on my research, having the larger diameter Deram label (10 cm) and the matrix number upside-down on both labels, this is probably one of the first few hundred mono copies pressed.
Vinyl Visual Grade: VG+ with light marking and great gloss. Labels show maybe a dozen plays.
Vinyl Play Grade: VG+ and maybe even a bit better with EXCELLENT fidelity throughout and very low level noise during the quiet parts. I could have play-graded this at NM but I may have heard a stray pop on "Moth" and that was about it.
Cover Visual Grade: VG at least on this delicate front-laminated Moore & Mathes UK outer sleeve. There is some creasing near the spine and some slight laminate lift near the top front left corner (which is also a wee bit worn). Bottom left front corner has a crease. Spines and seam show minimal wear. Back is nice and clean and bright white with one small pen mark in top left corner (see pictures).
Inner sleeve is original red-bordered (denoting mono pressing) Decca/Deram poly-lined inner in nice shape. This will be left inside the outer sleeve and the vinyl will be held in a heavy Audiophile plastic inner.
Hello all. My name is Jamie and I have been collecting records for 40+ years. It is time to trim down my unmanageable inventory. My tastes run all over the sonic map, so there should be something for almost everyone.
ALL records will have been visually inspected under BRIGHT incandescent light with extreme scrutiny.
ALL open records will have been play graded using a Thorens TD 165 turntable and Yamaha amplifier (JBL reference headphones). Treble set high so nothing will be hidden in my grades. My grading is as follows:
M or Mint - NOT USED as there is no such thing as perfection.
NM or Near Mint - No significant markings - sealed or RARELY played.
VG+ - Minimal marking - none of which significantly affects fidelity of lp.
VG - Minimal to modest marking which affects lp but not to the point of distraction.
G - Modest marking but still VERY listenable, depending on your ears.
I WILL NOT SELL ANY LP AT LESS THAN G UNLESS THERE IS SIGNIFICANT HISTORICAL VALUE ATTACHED TO THE LP.
ALL COVERS WILL HAVE DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF ALL FLAWS.
I USE PROPER RECORD MAILERS WITH STIFFENERS AND PADDED CORNERS. I HAVE BOUGHT TOO MANY RECORDS ON EBAY WITH DINGED CORNERS FROM INSUFFICIENT PACKAGING. BY PADDING THE CORNERS WITH FOLDED BUBBLE WRAP (WHICH I DO) , YOU CAN BE SURE OF RECEIVING AN LP WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE CORNERS.
SHIPPING FEES:
