In the field of music, Eduard Toldrà developed a triple activity as violinist, composer and orchestra conductor. As a violinist, his career had to be relegated from 1943, the year in which he started to devote himself to the foundation and conducting the Municipal Orchestra of Barcelona (today’s OBC), with which he gave an average of 35 to 40 annual concerts until the year previous to his death. Most works by Toldrà are previous to his period as conductor. His music may be situated in the sphere of Noucentisme (Catalan cultural movement from the beginning of the twentieth century). In it we find lyricism, naturalness and brightness. Quite a lot of works by him came from contact with literature

 

 

 

 

CONDITION NOTES:

 Note: In some cases, a meticulous collector will have written in very small neat handwriting the date and place of purchase on a corner of the back cover and in some instances disc timings, musical notations in the libretto booklet, etc.. I do not mention this in my listing because it is minor, and I believe adds to the provenance of the LP.

 

 

Records are generally graded on visual inspection under strong and angled lighting. Mint: A brand new, SEALED record, never played. NM: Near Mint. An unsealed record that looks as good as new. VG++: Excellent. Light cosmetic flaws that should not affect the sound. VG+: May have cosmetic flaws, mild surface noise or short patches of ticking, but should sound fine overall. VG: May have moderate noise throughout or one or two bad patches from scratches. Still fine for general listening. Good: Noisy, but plays through. I will only sell very rare or unusual items in this condition.
