This Edward Auer/Chopin (Scherzo No. 2 in B Flat Minor, Op 31, Piano Sonata No. 3 in B Minor, Opus 58, et al.) RCA Highest Fidelity Direct Master Series/RCA Red Label Limited Edition Vinyl LP (RDCE-7/JRL 1-1334) dates to the early 1980s and was recorded and pressed in Japan.  It was rarely played at that time (and only on a high-end turntable with a top-quality stylus), and it has remained un-played and in storage in a smoke and pet free home for more than 30 years. The LP was visually graded, the surface is extremely clean and shows no signs of wear or warping, it was tested on a Luxman PD441 with Grado Prestige Gold Cartridge and Diamond Stylus, and it played perfectly with no noticeable imperfections or surface noise except for 2 minor clicks on Side 2. Still, overall, this LP is in Near Mint condition. The LP, album cover, gatefold, and original static free inner sleeve are encased in their original Japanese resealable clear plastic sleeve (that is slightly discolored and has very minor cracks and tears on the fold); still, these are also in Near Mint condition.  Note: this LP is not considered “sealed”.

This RCA Highest Fidelity Direct Master Series/RCA Red Label LP was recorded live on April 18, 1978, in Japan using the direct-to-disc recording method designed to capture the natural reverberations of a 1,200-seat concert hall. Various kinds of recording equipment, including two cutting machines, were brought in parts to the backstage of the hall for the recording and then reassembled and adjusted. The disc was also pressed in Japan.
