Description
The Civil Surface is the third and final album recorded by Egg. This LP, which has a quite different feel compared to Egg’s first two LPs due to all the extra instruments included in the arrangements, I purchased brand new in 1974. The three band members Dave Stewart on organ, piano and bass (on track B3), Mont Campbell on bass, french horn, piano and vocals and Clive Brooks on drums were supplemented by Steve Hillage on guitar (on track B2) plus a variety of other instrumentalists on various tracks. Supplementary vocalists on track B1 were Amanda Parsons, Ann Rosenthal and Dave Stewart’s partner Barbara Gaskin.
The back cover lists all the tracks and players on the LP and includes a variety of photos of the band members and supplementary players and singers.
The LP has been cleaned, played and checked for sound quality on a Pro-Ject turntable with an ADC cartridge. Both sides are visually excellent while the sound quality is excellent throughout. The only audible defects heard were three clicks approximately half way through track B1 and a few subtle clicks during track B2.

The original inner sleeve is in very good condition with just some slight discolouration toward the edges. The front cover is in very good condition although the Caroline Records Recommended Price £1.46 sticker is no longer pristine. The back cover is also in very good condition with just one small tear above the C in CAROLINE towards the top right corner. The top inside edges of the front and back of the cover are just starting to separate at the outer edge due to the glue starting to dry out.
The LP will be shipped via Royal Mail’s Second Class Signed For service in a stiff cardboard LP mailing carton. UK buyers only. No Buy It Now price will be accepted.
