Eileen Farrell Sings Rodgers & Hart
Vinyl 1989
REFERENCE RECORDINGS, RR-32 ] A PROF Johnson PURE Analogue Recording
I'm not a dealer, merely an analogue collector / enthusiast for the last 25 years, now selling off a few sealed duplicates and others from my small personal collection; This LP is enclosed in a fold-over self-sealing outer wrap so I could not tell if I'd opened and played it or not. I am the original owner and fairly certain that I have never played it.
VINYL - looks un-played, as NM < MINT as you'll ever find, no spindle marks, no nothing. It is flawless.
COVER - STILL IN ORIGINAL WRAP - WITH ADDITIONAL 3 MIL MYLAR COVER FOR ADDED PROTECTION
No digital here....; I recently read one "classically trained" reviewer's notes wherein he recommended to his followers that they should buy a CD rather than listening to MP3 versions because of MUCH less compression - "A word to the wise: get the CD instead of the MP3. The problem with MP3 is that they are so compressed you only get 10-20% fidelity of the music."
I MAY HAVE AN EVEN BETTER IDEA - WHY NOT GO "OLD SCHOOL" AND GET THE BEST VERSION - BUY PURE ANALOGUE WHERE THERE IS NO DIGITAL INVOLVED AT EITHER END, AND NO COMPRESSION. But you have to be careful - a LOT of Vinyl created since the late 70's - 80's has been mastered digitally, so you'd be just as well off buying the CD. Unless you're in a car, on a bicycle or otherwise traveling, you don't need a CD. An analogue LP is the next best thing to "being there".
Eileen Farrell won acclaim and fame as an opera singer. She proved an effective, sometimes impressive standards and pre-rock performer, although she wasn't a jazz singer in any sense. This is a 14-song package from 1989 with arrangements by Louis McGlobon.
