Description
Elastic Oz Band "God Save Us" (written & prod. by John Lennon/Yoko Ono, Mal Evans & Phil Spector - yeah baby!). Released in the UK in 1971 on Apple Records, catalogue number Apple 36. The b-side is "Do the Oz" (also written by Lennon/Ono). This was released in support of the team of underground writers and journalists who used to put together 'Oz' magazine. They went through a lengthy High Court battle regards the magazine breaching the obscenity law in the UK. Ended up most got short prison sentences and a wave of 'outrage' by the public, John Lennon among them, led to the release of this little beauty as a fundraiser to offset legal costs. One of the then young magazine contributor's, was 20 year old Charles Shaar Murray (best music journalist ever who wrote for years in the NME - history lesson 101 today kiddies!). Condition is good plus as there are some stylus marks round some of the grooves (c'mon, gimme a break, I was 16 and only had a little Phillips portable back then!). The sleeve has weathered well and is in good+ shape for a nearly 50 year old item. This is a little treasure to keep and savour. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd class. I combine postage on multiple purchases overa 24 hour period.
