The Electric Light Orchestra's second LP called "E.L.O 2" was released in the UK on the Harvest label in 1973.
Original 1st pressings of "E.L.O 2" have A-2 and B-2 matrix numbers.
This, however, is a copy which precedes the original first pressing !
It's a copy of the incredibly rare ORIGINAL TEST PRESSING with the VERY FIRST ORIGINAL matrix numbers A-1 and B-1.


This record was part of a very collection I bought in 2000 and was stored for years before I checked this item. 
I always thought that this was a bog-standard used ELO LP until one day I was amazed to discover that the normal sleeve contained a used test pressing !
I have been intrigued by this record for a long time and some years ago played and compared it to the A-2 B-2 pressing and made some notes at the time.
I thought that the mix was definitely different on at least 3 tracks but didn't spend countless hours/days comparing both albums as I'm not a huge fan of ELO or this album.

I had never heard of A-1 and B-1 matrix numbers for this LP before and have not been able to find any information about this 2-sided test pressing.
My research into this record has proved fruitless.
To my knowledge this item has not been offered before on eBay and this is a NO RESERVE auction. 
Please correct me if I am wrong !


VINYL DETAILS
Side 1 has ELO written on it.  This is actually written at 9 o'clock where the Mother code 1 is machine stamped ( it's always stamped at this location on EMI records) Directly opposite that at 3 o'clock is the Stamper code G which is the very first Stamper code. The matrix number SHVL 806 A-1 is machine stamped at 6 o'clock (See Photo).
Side 2 is blank.  The same Mother code 1 is again machine stamped at 9 o'clock. Directly opposite that at 3 o'clock is the same Stamper code G. The matrix number SHVL 806 B-1 is machine stamped at 6 o'clock (See Photo).
VINYL CONDITION
The vinyl has been played a lot but is in EXCELLENT MINUS condition. There are a large number of tiny hairlines but nothing serious and certainly NO scratches and nothing interfering with play. Some spider marks are visible around the spindle holes. Certainly better than VG+.

SLEEVE
The vinyl is in a plain square white inner housed in a Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve. The sleeve has some wear on the front, back, edges, corners and opening but has NO rips and NO tears. Also a stain top centre inner gatefold.
On the inside gatefold in the bottom right corner is written :- 7303  TPS  Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.   SHVL 806 This proves it to be a true first edition sleeve.
Sleeve graded as VERY GOOD which is not the greatest but better sleeves DO exist out there !
However the sleeve is not really the main item here !
