Description

Electric Light Orchestra – Out Of The Blue, the special edition UK double album pressed on blue vinyl and issued by Jet Records, catalogue number JETDP 400.

This is the desirable late 1978/early 1979 UK blue-vinyl issue. The combination visible here — JETDP 400 catalogue number, CBS distribution, older-style Jet labels with white/yellow beams, blue vinyl and the JETDP 400-coded spaceship insert — corresponds with the documented UK special-edition pressing. The blue-vinyl edition was introduced in late 1978 to mark the album having spent 12 months in the charts.

A particularly nice feature of this copy is that it remains complete with both original lyric inner sleeves, the large band poster and the press-out ELO spaceship model sheet. The spaceship pieces have never been pressed out and remain completely intact in the original sheet.

Both blue vinyl records appear very clean and glossy from visual inspection, with no obvious significant scratches visible in the photographs. They have not been play-graded, so condition is based on visual inspection only.

The gatefold sleeve presents well overall but does show some age-related imperfections. There is a slight bow/warp to the sleeve, meaning it does not sit completely flat when closed. There is also minor edge/corner wear, including a small area of rubbing/loss at the centre of the lower gatefold edge and a smaller area at the centre of the opposite edge, together with a few light surface marks/creases. These are quite small issues but are mentioned for accuracy and can be seen in the photographs.

The illustrated lyric inner sleeves, poster and unused press-out sheet are all present, making this a much more attractive example than the numerous incomplete copies.

Matrix/runout details: Side A: A2, Side B: B1, Side C: C1, Side D: D3.

A classic ELO album containing Turn to Stone, Sweet Talkin’ Woman, Mr. Blue Sky, Wild West Hero and others.

Will be packed well for safe shipping.
