This is a 45rpm, 7 inch EP released on the Castle label and distributed by Recorded Tuition Limited. Issued in 1963. 

The tracks are two compositions and a collection of electronic sounds for dramatic use including imaginary space ship sounds by the much overlooked British electronics pioneer, inventor and sound recordist F.C. Judd.

The vinyl is in excellent / near-mint condition with no significant scratches, damage or imperfections.

The sleeve is in excellent condition with slight wear at the corners and some minor marks and creasing.

Fred Charles Judd (1914-1992) was one of a number of lone British backroom experimenters who have largely been overlooked by historians. Until recently, discussions about early electronic music tended to fixate on French, German and U.S. practioners with any attention to British electronic music concentrated on the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop.

After working with secret radar equipment in the RAF during WW2 he was drawn into experimenting with electronic music during the mid-1950s, building a home studio. His work included a number of ground breaking achievements including a self-built synthesizer and sound visualisation system. He published numerous magazine articles and 11 books throughout his career. His book Electronic Music and Musique Concrete was published in 1961 and is one of the earliest books on the subject, providing circuit diagrams and practical advice on creating experimental music on tape. Fred created a soundtrack for Space Patrol, a sci-fi puppet show first broadcast on ITV in 1963 which proved to be the first electronic soundtrack for a whole series on British television. Like the work of other British electronic music makers of the period, his work has been overlooked and inadequately documented.

In 2011 he was the focus of Practical Electronica, a documentary by Ian Helliwell which covers Fred?'s work with electronic sound and tape recording. 

I HAVE GRADED THIS RECORD ACCORDING TO RECORD COLLECTORS GRADING SYSTEM:

MINT: The Record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as a lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scatch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
