Elisabeth Lutyens String Quartet UK Argo ZRG 5425
On “Instrumental Music”, the Darlington String Quartet plays the “String Quartet No. 6” ; Katherina Wolpe the “Five Bagatelles for Piano”, and the Leonardo Wind Quintet, the “Wind Quintet” Op. 45 by Elisabeth Lutyens. The record also includes Iain Hamilton’s “Cello Sonata” played by Joan Dickson, and “Three Pieces for Piano”. An English stereo pressing on the Argo Label (ZRG 5425), the record labels are green and silver with a large oval Argo logo and a groove. The record is of excellent appearance and plays and sounds superb with a minimum of surface noise. The cover has a slight ring and the laminate has begun to lift along the spine edge.
