Description
redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This rare LP – pressed on red vinyl – from Concert Hall Society (CHS-32, US pressing, red flat vinyl, blue/silver label, mono – no stereo edition exists, insert included) features pianist Ella Goldstein in a mercurial and poetic account of Schumann’s Carnaval Op. 9, recorded in the early to mid-1950s and one of the few commercial recordings of hers in existence.
Born in China in 1927, she would study with Alexander Borovsky and take First Prize in the 1953 Busoni Competition. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1947 and appeared with leading orchestras and conductors both in the USA (in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Koussevitzy and the BSO) and in Europe, and especially in Israel. She died in 1997.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the paper jacket is VERY GOOD. There is edgewear and discoloration, but that is all. However, there are no bends, seamsplits, owners' markings, or other defects, and the jacket remains solid, bright, and attractive – overall, a very good collector’s copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although the surfaces are not absolutely silent, really this is a fine copy and the playback is enjoyable. Those requiring a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this is an excellent collector's copy.
