Description
This auction is for a acetate of Elton John's track Don't let the sun go down on me, The acetate is a single track cut on to a 10" singled sided acetate, The catalogue number on the acetate is EJS 26A . EJS is part of the catalogue system used by Elton John's label 'The Rocket Record Company' and the label also mentions Phonogram aswell. I have tried to research the catalogue number with out success. I can't find any details of this track being released as a single on the Label at all.
Listening to the Acetate and having listened to the vinyl versions there are some differences between the two including some of the backing track is missing that was on the released versions .This is not the final version that was released and therefore an Unreleased version of this well known track . The acetate is on the 1tape mastering label but I am unable to date this acetate as there is no information on the label to determine a date though I would guess late 80's early 90's due to the catalogue number.
Only a handful maximum of these would have been produced so this is probably one of only a few that exist. This is an extremely rare item and therefore very difficult to determine a value so I have set a low starting price to encourage bidding however I will consider offers to add a buy it now price to the listing until the first bid has been place then I will let the auction run its course ( All transactions will be completed via Ebay).
I have had this acetate stored away for a few years now and have decided to pass it on to a collector who would appreciate it.
The Condition of The acetate I would grade as 'Very Good / Very Good Minus' it does have some marks and scuffs built up over age mainly on the non playing edge of the acetate and the track plays with some crackles as does any acetate.
A superb piece of music history.
