Description
This is an auction for an Original copy of the HARD TO FIND 1959 MAROON LABEL DOG ON TOP EP release Elvis Presley - A Touch Of Gold (Volume 1) released in the USA.
The record itself (EPA-5088 DOG ON TOP) is in EXCELLENT- condition.
There are some visible marks/scratches but nothing too deep or drastic.
The centre labels have minimal ringwear/rubbing and great colour but do have a small numbered label and some non sticky residue on one side(see photos)
This is also a 1st PRESSING as indicated by the 1s in the trail off.
A mint copy on the Maroon label alone would set you back a cool $400!!!!
The THICK CARDBOARD picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2012 as $175 in the condition it is in now (which i would say is EXCELLENT-) for the sleeve alone!!!
This sleeve is 58 years old and is in GREAT condition for the age.(see photos)
This hard to find sleeve has nice colour , NO SPLITS, RIPS, TEARS and NO WRITING!(see photos)
The only thing that stops this from grading higher is some slight age discolouration on the rear. (see photos)
THIS IS WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST CONDITIONED SLEEVE OF THIS RELEASE I HAVE EVER HAD AVAILABLE FOR SALE ON EBAY IN THE LAST 13 YEARS AND TO TOP IT ALL IT IS WITH THE MEGA RARE MAROON LABEL!!!!!!!!!
This is also the RARER mis-pressed 1st edition picture sleeve , where they originally missed out the word "OF" , then squeezed it onto the side (later sleeves were corrected with the word "OF" correctly centred in between Touch and Gold.
That all said this is a great affordable collection filler until that mint $400+ copy comes along!
The record is also stored in a separate paper sleeve to prevent anymore wear to this RARE sleeve!!
Overall 2 years ago this was valued at $525+(£405 approx) .I dont have a current price guide but i would say at least £280+.
THIS WOULD SERVE AS A GREAT AFFORDABLE COMBINATION OF MAROON RECORD AND MISPRESSED SLEEVE UNTIL THAT MINT SEALED $600+ COPY COMES ALONG!!!!
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might be able to grab yourself a bargain!!!
Please look at my other auctions for some more great Elvis USA picture sleeve lots.
I offer shipping discounts on multiple purchases.(please request total invoice when through bidding )
APOLOGIES FOR POSTAGE PRICE INCREASES BUT THIS IS DUE TO ROYAL MAIL RAISING COSTS AS OF MARCH 2017
