Description
This is an auction for an Original copy of the HARD TO FIND 1959 MAROON LABEL DOG ON TOP EP release Elvis Presley - A Touch Of Gold (Volume 1) released in the USA.
The record itself (EPA-5088 DOG ON TOP) is in EXCELLENT- condition.
There are some light visible marks/scratches but nothing too deep or drastic.
The centre labels have some nice colour however have some scuff marks on the label on side 2 but NO WRITING!!.(see photos)
This is also a 1st PRESSING as indicated by the 1s in the trail off.
A mint copy on the Maroon label alone would set you back a cool $400!!!!
The THICK CARDBOARD picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2016 as $160 in the condition it is in now (which i would say is EXCELLENT-) for the sleeve alone!!!
This sleeve is 60 years old and is in nice condition for the age.(see photos)
This hard to find sleeve has nice colour , NO RIPS,TEARS or WRITING!!(see photos)
The only thing that stops this from grading higher is some ringwear / scuff marks and some small corner wear at the bottom but nothing drastic(see photos)
This is also the RARER mis-pressed 1st edition picture sleeve , where they originally missed out the word "OF" , then squeezed it onto the side (later sleeves were corrected with the word "OF" correctly centred in between Touch and Gold.
That all said this is a great affordable collection filler until that mint Sleeve and Maroon label $600+ copy comes along!
The record is also stored in a separate paper sleeve to prevent anymore wear to this RARE sleeve!!
Overall 2 years ago this was valued at $480+(£400 approx) .
I dont have a current price guide but i would say at least £420+.
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might be able to grab yourself a bargain!!!
Please look at my other auctions for some more great Elvis USA picture sleeve lots.
I offer shipping discounts on multiple purchases.(please request total invoice when through bidding )
