Elvis Presley **Alternate Cover** For LP Fans Only - RCA LSP 1990 (e)

The King has not left the building!! You have the opportunity to bid on an RCA "Stereo Electronically Reprocessed" vinyl recording of one of the most influential music artists of all time. The cover has been described as an 'alternate' with the back matching the front but without the RCA Victor logo and LSP-1990(e) printing. This album was more commonly released with a picture of Elvis in his military uniform on the back.

The cover is high glossed and solid with the edges showing some storage/handling wear. The bottom opening corner has a slight (1/4") split/fray. There is the date 'Oct 21, 1965' about 3/8"x2" on the back top left corner that looks like it was done with a pen that didn't have ink. There is no color to it and it was done on the top white stripe. You can only see it if you hold it to the light just right.

The inner sleeve is correct (21-112-1-40B) with some light creasing/record imprinting to the bottom corners. The back of the inner sleeve also has light creasing/record imprinting and glue stains (from about 1/8" to 1/4" wide) along each outer edge. There are seam splits about 2" on one side and about 1-1/2" on the bottom at the records edge.

The actual record is in very good shape. It has the black label with white 'RCA Victor' label on top and silver writing. There are no visible scratches and only the slightest 'scuffing'. It has very high gloss, no visible scratches and no distortion of center hole. I do not have a record player so I do not know if there is any imperfections in the recording but by looking at it I would have to guess that it would play with no problems.

I do not claim to have any special knowledge or learning about collectible record albums but with some basic research this is what I can see. Based on the matrix numbers etched on the record
(RPRS--7865--2S and RPRS--7866--2S)  it looks like this was pressed in Indianapolis. Based on the sleeve number and design, it looks like it was pressed in April of 1965.

I do not know what any of this means but if it's important to you, I hope this helps. This album will make a great addition to any Elvis or album collection. There is seemingly not a lot of information on this album cover mistake and I only realized its rarity when trying to do some research on it to better be able to accurately describe it for auction listing purposes.
