Description
This is an auction for an ORIGINAL DEMO / PROMO copy of the 1969 release of In The Ghetto/Any Day Now released in the USA.
The record itself (47-9741 on YELLOW label)is in VERY GOOD+ condition.
There are a few marks/scratches ( nothing too deep or drastic though)
The labels are clearly marked with the words " NOT FOR SALE " (see photos)
There is some writing and a couple of stickers on the In The Ghetto side.
The picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2002 as $32 in the condition it is in now(which i would say is VG+)for the sleeve alone!!!
Although this sleeve is over 42 years old there are NO SPLITS or WRITING!.(see photos)
The only thing that stops this from grading even higher is some ringwear/scuff marks and some holes from where a couple of staples have been removed from the top opener.
I would grade this as VERY GOOD+.
This picture sleeve is the RARE 2ND issue of the 2 issued as this one has the advert saying "ASK FOR" FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS" (as opposed to the EARLIER " COMING SOON" FROM ELVIS IN MEMPHIS LP)
Overall 2 years ago this was valued at $50+(£33 approx) .
I dont have a current price guide but i would say at least £35.
With a starting price at just under half that you might be able to grab yourself a bargain!!!
