Description
You have the opportunity to bid on Elvis' first EP, simply titled "ELVIS PRESLEY" (EPA-747), released in 1956 on the RCA Victor label. This EP that you see here is in VG+ condition. I am gradually listing to sell my Elvis Presley record collection, which I began putting together shortly after The King's untimely demise in 1977. My collection of First Pressings is quite vast and is only missing the Sun singles along with the Monaural versions of "Elvis' Gold records, Vol. 4" and "Speedway", which are very rare. I have always strived for the best quality that I could find, upgrading inferior examples along the way. I plan to list primarily 1968 and earlier material, which is the most popular amongst collectors.
This EP includes BLUE SUEDE SHOES; TUTTI FRUTTI; I GOT A WOMAN; JUST BECAUSE with the song writer credits as "P.D." (Public Domain), instead of Bob Shelton, Joe Shelton and Sid Robin. They were properly credited on later issues. The labels are very clean and glossy with no writing or stickers present. The matrix numbers are (Side 1): G2 WH1854-6S and (Side 2): G2 WH1855-5S. The cover grades VG+ with a tiny 1mm seam split on the top at the open end; very trivial, but mentioned for honesty sake. This earlier cover has the upper portion as White with Black song titles on the front along with the "Ad-Back". There is a name handwritten along the top of the back as well as what appears to be smear of brown paint to the lower right corner of the back. Some light scuffing from contact with other records is the only other item worthy of mention. An over-all very clean record and cover for being well over 56 years of age! This item will come with a plain white sleeve for the 45 EP and shipped with the record separated from the cover to prevent seam splits from the record sliding around during transit.
