Description

An original 1st mono press of G.I. BLUES Matrix 1B/1B. Note the labels mention 'Recording 1st pub 1960' - correct! Correct tax code for 1st press "ET". Stampers are 1G/1C. Under the Decca Buckingham sequence this copy would have been within the first few thousand copies ever pressed. Sweet! The The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with scalloped flipbacks [correct for 1960]. The cover is also fully laminated - you tend to find this on only the very 1st copies. We also have the original Decca inners sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In vey nice condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few very light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Many Elvis original copies have been thrashed to death by this point in time. But this example has certainly been played - but still retains most of that original classic audio. Even into the fussy tracks on side 2 - it is playing clean. Better than most original copies. All I could detect was the odd crackle here and there in 'GI Blues' & 'Best I can' [nothing remotely unpalatable]. One solitary click as 'Pocketful' closes out. Otherwise a well above average playing original Elvis copy. Sweet!
Cover (Ex-) Really nice condition particularly given the vintage and has clearly been cared for. Front and back are clean and flat. It seems to have avoided most the ageing process which usually affects this vintage. Little bit of edge wear - nothing that noticeable. Flipbacks on this title often tear - this example looks smart. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
