Description
Here is a pretty nice copy of this 1957 Elvis EP. Pictures are hi-res scans of the item for sale.
As it's an expensive record, I'll do my best to describe in detail - although looking at the photos carefully is recommended! NOT one of those "miraculous survivor, never been played" records, but a likeable copy.
Cover first. Laminated both sides, not torn or split, no writing on it. Lamination still all there, nice. It's had plenty of handling. Cover has moulded to the shape of the record. There is ring-wear, which has just dulled the laminate in a circle, front and rear. Corners have been bent at some time in the past, while record was in the sleeve, so creases can be seen. Some wear at the opening.
The record - labels not torn or damaged, but some handwriting, and a stick-on strip of label bearing previous owner's name. Vinyl surface doesn't look bad, but quite a few stylus scratches. Not scratched all-over, not beaten-to-death (with whatever people used to use for ruining records!) Play-testing the record showed that there are audible scratches. As usual, majority of the damage is to the outer / first track of each side, as that's where people mis-cue the stylus onto it. Scratches are particularly noticeable on "Milk Cow Blues". The other tracks play well, and on all 4 tracks, the music is still there to be heard, it still sounds like Elvis and the group. I enjoyed listening to it. No jumps, no catch-grooves / stopping when played on my hi-fi deck.
