This is your opportunity to get hold of what I am certain is a very rare Elvis Presley early 78 RPM record.

 

The label states ‘The B. F. Wood Music Co., Mills House, London W. C. 2’ in the centre.

 

Around the label are printed the words ‘ DEMONSTRATION RECORD NOT FOR SALE’

are Clearly handwritten in Black Ink.

 

I discovered this record amongst a pile of old 78s in my parents’ cellar about 25 years ago and have only now just got around to seeing if any serious Elvis collector is interested.

 

I have searched the internet extensively and can find no mention of this recording. I guess this means that it is fairly unusual. If I am mistaken and is a common piece of memorabilia, please let me know.

 

The condition is not too good. There are a couple of small areas of damage to the grooves (photo shows close-up of worst piece of damage) and lots of minor blemishes. There was also a bit of a white bloom that I have carefully cleaned off although under some light conditions it still shows to some degree. I have never tried to play it. It is not warped at all. I have tried to be as honest as I can with the photos. If you’d like any more photos or close-ups before bidding or any further info, please let me know as I would not wish anyone to be disappointed.

 

The label is dirty and has some slight damage on one edge.

 

The reverse is smooth - just the words

I have given the disk a light clean but have not wanted to do too much – I felt it was a job to leave to an expert.

 

I hope this disk can find its way into the collection of a serious Elvis fan. For me, it is just sitting in a cupboard but I have set a high starting price as I’ll happily hang onto it if no-one wants it that much.
