An original 1st press on UK RCA silver spot label from 1961. Matrix 1D/1D - 1st cut. Stampers 1C/1C. Which actually infers this disc is a copy from one of the first ever stampers employed by Decca on Blue Hawaii [under the Buckingham sequence]. I think you'll agree - that's pretty cool. "recording 1st pub" exhibiting. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo cover with flipbacks. We also have an original STEREO Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Now, way back in '61 hardly anyone had a stereo reproducer. It might be Elvis - but these original copies sold in small numbers. Loads of Monos - hardly any in 'Living Stereo' from '61!!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations. By and large a beautiful player - but not perfectly clean 100% of the time. When on song this copy is extremely impressively. Lovely warm audio with excellent detail. Very clean indeed. Particularly when you consider this is Elvis from 1961 and a lot of the audio is extremely fussy. Expect nothing worse than some faint background presence in one spot per side [e.g. the very fussy Island of Love]. Nothing vaguely worth worrying about - I am just mentioning to be ultra-critical. Given this is Elvis and all original - I don't think you'll be seeing this level of preservation in a hurry. And, remember, this copy is from the 1C stamper too. Lordy!
Cover (Vg+) Notorious for surfacing in terrible condition - but this rare stereo is looking pretty dapper. On the face of it the front looks pretty good. But take a close look at the yellow segments - there is foxing present. Weirdly it only seems to be occurring in those segments. The rear usually tarnishes and exhibits a lot of wear. But this example has avoided most of the ageing process. Just a bit on the flipbacks and a very low level coffee ring stain to the left of 'Blue Hawaii'. Small 1.c.m tear at bottom of opening - repaired. Very little edge wear and sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Pretty darn good for the vintage.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. Bag present. No splits. Impressive!
