Description
This is an auction for an ORIGINAL copy of the 1959 GOLD STANDARD SERIES EP release of ELVIS PRESLEY in King Creole released in the USA.
This was quite a strange re-release as the original release was only issued 1 year earlier!!!!
The record itself (EPA-5122 dog on top)is in EXCELLENT - / VERY GOOD+ condition a few marks/scratches and retains some of it's natural sheen.
The centre labels are clean and have NO WRITING!(see photos).
The THICK CARDBOARD picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2008 as $55-60 in the condition it is in now VERY GOOD+ for the sleeve alone!!!
This sleeve is 54 years old and is in nice condition for the age.
There are NO RIPS, TEARS or WRITING!.
The only thing that stops this from grading even higher is some scuff marks/ringwear and partial seam splits at the side, top and bottom.(see photos)
This sleeve differs from the 1958 release in a couple of ways in addition to the obvious change in catalogue number (the original 1958 release was epa-4319)
This has the Gold Standard logo at the top on the front and on the rear the advert for Hard Headed Woman has been replaced with the "The Aim Of The Gold Standard Series"....
Because the release date of this was so close to the original release sales of this were not as high as they could have been (hence why this is harder to find!)
This is a really affordable collection filler until that MINT £83+ copy comes along.
The record is also stored in a separate paper sleeve to prevent anymore wear to this sleeve!!
Overall 2 years ago this was valued at $90(£60 approx) .I dont have a current price guide but i would say at least £65.
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might be able to grab yourself a bargain!!!
Please look at my other auctions for some more great Elvis USA picture sleeve lots.
I offer shipping discounts on multiple purchases!!
APOLOGIES FOR POSTAGE PRICE INCREASES BUT THIS IS DUE TO ROYAL MAIL RAISING COSTS AS OF 6TH APRIL 2013!!!
