ELVIS PRESLEY - ELIS PRESLEY 'ROCK ’N’ ROLL'
H.M.V. CLP 1093
UK First pressing (1956). Fully laminated flip-back sleeve.
Vinyl grades a solid VG grade. Sounds like VG+/EX.
Visually it has a light featherline spiral scratch across one side (needle slide?), but this seems to not affect play at all. It looks worse than it sounds, and doesn't feel under a finger tip. Playback grades VG+/EX - really great. No skips or ticks, and no obvious ‘bacon & egg’ crackles. Sounds amazing!
Labels are clean and devoid of any issues. In all, a very good listening experience with very little in the way of any background noise during or between tracks.
The fully-laminated flip-back sleeve grades VG/VG+. Still way better than most that are seen. There is a small piece missing from the bottom sleeve that reaches around to the reverse ‘flip back’.
At some point, it looks like somebody has touched in some of the front sleeve artwork. Not noticeable at first, but definitely evidence of this.
The spine might have had some splitting or wear, so another owner has very expertly added a photocopied ‘paper spine’ along the spine edge. This has been done well (with no evidence of sellotape) and as an act of preservation is not too bad. This is, after all, one of the most significant album releases of all time!
Not sure if the poly-lined heavy paper inner sleeve is original to this LP, but it is definitely period-correct and is not out of place.
