Since Cincinnati ... a lot has happened. But in Cincinnati that night on Sat. June 25th 1977 a lot happened. The Riverfront Stadium was the scene for the one after last concert. Elvis arrived in Cincinnati in the early morning hours and directly went to his hotel. During the afternoon, Elvis being tired of a non-functioning airconditing system, left armed with 2 buddies and one pair of sunglasses for the next place; The Netherland hotel. Around 8.30 pm the light-houses went down for the first part of the show: J.D. Summer & The Stamps followed by the Sweet Inspirations. Although these singers form an integral part of the show their excellent contributions were not available. Until now! To give you something extra we added some of the finest songs from these groups. After the intermission Elvis steals this show from the SUN-dial tour (named after the frabrics on his jumpsuit). Over 17.000 fans accept Elvis apologies, when he explains that there was some last minute dentist work to be done. And let's be fair, who in those days would doubt this explanation. What follows is a good show, witch - especially when listening carefully - seems to exhaust Elvis. In spite of this the rendering of some songs are of historical heights: e.g. Lord You Gave Me A Mountain seems to be coming from the soul. Accompanying himself on piano during Unchained Melody (some technical problems caught the recording engineer off guard) is another thriller. During the introductions Elvis mentions Vernon and Ginger. After the concert Elvs flew directly back to Memphis, where he spend the night and part of the next day in Graceland. On Sunday June 26, he flew back to Indianapolis.

Part of the Sundial-tour-material was used in the CBS-TV show "Elvis in concert". It is likely that some remaining filmed material will materialize in furter TV-productions, e.g. the Disney video shows. Part of this Cincinnati show is available on Super 8 mm collectors material. So far this show itself could not be heard. For all of us, who missed the show and for all of us who saw the show, the best thing is missing. But the next best thing since Cincinnati is now this album.
