Description
The fabulous Gospel EP Elvis put out for RCA, his very first tryout on how his gospel music would sell; this is an original US pressing of the EPA-4054 which was released in April 1957 and features four songs;
Side 1 - Peace In The Valley / It Is No Secret Side 2 - I Believe / Take My Hand, Precious Lord
The overall condition of this 'set' is a solid VG+ - it is not a 'Perfect Copy', but certainly a good example of the classic EP.
The SLEEVE; shows very faint signs of handling, the front looks extremely nice but has a tad of discoloration/"yellowing" on the back. The RECORD; This is the DOS (Dog On Side) label variation which means it is a "re-release" - the original comes from 1957 but this label RCA started using around 1964/1965 so it comes from that era. The overall condition of the record is excellent!!! Labels are very clean and solid, as is the vinyl. Only slight hairlines visible.
-------------------- The 7-inch 45rpm EPA (Extended Play Album) format was something Elvis helped to explode in popularity in the 50's. They were like "mini-albums", mostly featuring four songs (two on each side) - so basically a format between an LP (Long Play album, usually featured 10-12 tracks on two sides) and a 45rpm Single (one song on each side). They were pressed in big numbers back then but they are still quite collectible and sought after today, possibly because they're far easier to handle and frame (as an example) than LP's. --------------------
