Description
ELVIS PRESLEY - 'ROCK 'N' ROLL'
1956 UK HMV 1st PRESSING LP
*WITH ULTRA-RARE INSERT CARD*
**SUPERB COPY**
This fine copy comes complete with an original HMV 9x14cm black & white promotional postcard which lists Elvis's HMV releases up to this LP.
The card was present within this copy of the LP when I acquired it and is 100% original.
This copy was previously owned by a classical music collector and recieved only careful play and handling as indicated by its superb conditioned cover.
This great 1956 first pressing on the UK HMV label: CLP 1093
Both labels carry 'Gramophone Co Ltd...' rims and the distinctive 1950's EMI groove.
The RT tax/price code is visible on the side two label.
Housed in a fully laminated 'WRW' prtinted cover.
Complete with original inner sleeve bearing the retailer's stamp (in Kuala Lumpa) where the LP was originally bought.
Matrix numbers: 2XAV 255-1N & 2XAV 256-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/GR & 1/H
Cover: EXCELLENT
Remarkable to find this cover in such fine shape. As I mentioned before it came from a classical collector who knew how to treat his records.
All the usual faults related to this extremely fragile cover are not present here.
The front panel is in superb shape with just a few tiny wrinkles to the spine and slight wear to the opening edge but no tears or missing paper or laminate.
The rear panel has small laminate lift to the edge but is 100% intact. There are no tears, marks or writing.
The spine wording has a light crease throught the 'n' but is still clearly readable with no stresses or splits.
The delicate 'half-moon' flipbacks are completely intact and the upper and lower seams are strong and unsplit.
A great example, tough to upgrade.
Labels: EXCELLENT
Visual: VERY GOOD PLUS
Clean and bright surfaces which maintain their deep gloss shine undulled by careless handling or 'groove-whitening' from overplay.
Inspected closely in daylight and under a halogen desk lamp the only marks to the surfaces are some light stylus hairlines and sleeve removal marks.
This copy has been well looked after and carefully handled and bears no deep or feelable scratches or marks anywhere.
Heavy, thick vinyl with sharp edges and 100% flat on the turntable without dishing or warping.
Audio: Side 1: VERY GOOD Side 2: EXCELLENT
Clearly only played on quality audio equipment the music is remarkably free of any groovewear distortion or hiss.
Side 1 plays with some light intermittant crackle and the occaisional soft 'tick', but side 2 plays better without any interference.
Despite a few minor faults this really is is a great copy.
Promotional Card: NEAR MINT
This is completely original and is not a reproduction.
Strict visual grading in daylight and directly under a halogen desk lamp & audibly at volume on high-end audio equipment
