"Burning Love Records"

Item:  "SPD-23 Elvis Presley" 3 Record Set

Catalog Number: SPD-23

Condition Check:   Everything Near Mint

Date of Issue:   October, 1956

Today's Auctions:  Once again one of those special days where Rarity is the name of the game.  Starts off with the blockbuser SPD-23, it really needs no introduction and then continues on with some extrodinary Elvis records.  If you collect the rare Elvis this is a day for you, check each and every one out, all high value, all very very rare.  I combine shipping with muliple wins and no reserves.

Closer Look At the Item:   Wow!  The only way to describe this incredible record, in October of 1956 RCA offered two new Elvis Presley record players, one standard player at $32.95 and the deluxe player at $47.95.  These were both only available through the mail and each came with a bonus special products record, the less expensive player with SPD-22 and the deluxe player with SPD-23.  As you can imagine the production numbers on both of these 'bonus' records were extremely low and SPD-23 is by far the rarest of the two because less deluxe players were sold than the less expensive model.  SPD-23 since Elvis collecting began has been one of the most desireable records in the world, very few exist and are highly  coveted.  This one in particular should grab your attention because of the condition.  The cover is a double three part gatefold to hold all three  record and it is the nicest that I have ever seen.  Front, back and inner are all in just great shape, barely a bit of wear anywhere. When I took pictures you will see the inside does not even open completely as the spine is still like new, I of course did not force it open so the one side of the cover is up in the air a bit, just marvelous shape.  The spine is outstanding, I have pictured it alone, still just in great shape with everything visible and no wear.  About the only flaw on the cover at all is a tiny 1/8th of an inch bump at one corner, I have pictured it in the photo looking down, very slight.  The records all live up to the same bill, I will call them near mint as a group, two of them I cannot find any flaw on, one just a speck of wear under an intense light, just outstanding, it is hard to believe a record like this could survive all these years, and in this shape, well I a not sure y0u will ever see one like this again.  This one several years ago booked at $5000 which makes it in the top five of the most collectable Elvis records in the world today.  Stunning addition to your collection, just an amazing record.

Note on Packaging:  All items are in shipped in mylar resealable sleeves, the  finest in the industry today.  Also the records are not packaged inside the original sleeves, instead packaged separately in a generic sleeve so no damage to the sleeve occurs in transit.

Rating Guide:

Mint (M):  Perfect in every way, looks to have never been played, should have that look just as it did when you pulled the record from the new cover at the time of original purchase.

Mint Minus (M-):  A nearly perfect record and cover.  This item should show no readily visible signs of wear,  covers and sleeves should have no more than nearly invisible rings or other signs of slight wear and vinyl should still be completely glossy and shiney, just the very lightest hint of wear if it is tilted to very bright light.

Very Good Plus (VG+):  This record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled carefully by the previous owner.  Record surfaces will show some light signs of paper scuffing or light scratches, that don't affect the listening experience.  Slight warps that do not affect sound are OK.  This disc should still contain much of its original luster and sheen.  The covers and picture sleeves should also be in very nice shape, they may have light ring wear or other signs of wear, may have a small cut out hole, indention or stamping present.  Also there can be non obvious writing on the paper goods.

Very Good (VG):  Many of the defects found in the VG+ record and cover will be present but more pronounced in the VG item.  Surface noise will be evident, although the record should play through without skipping or repeating.  Groove wear will now be noticable, scuffing and light scratching will be appearent, a scratch now can be felt with a fingernail.  Labels will be marred with tape or tape residue, stickers or descret writing.  The same will be true for the LP cover or picture sleeve.

Good (G):  Good does not mean bad!  A record in good condition should be placed on a turntable and it should play through, all though the surface noise will be evident.  A cover or picture sleeve will have seam splitting, especially on the bottom seam or spine.  Also there will be noticable ring wear caused by the presence of the record.  The defects will start to overwhere this item.

Fair (F) or Poor (P):  This record will be cracked, badly warped, and will not play through without skipping or repeating.  The picture sleeeve or LP cover will show lots and lots of wear, the seams will be split on all three sides barely able to hold the record.  This item will appear near valueless, unless of course it is a rarity that may not be seen again.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
