An absolutely wild and unusual piece of early Elvis history — a hybrid Sun/RCA coupling that looks like it lived a hard, glorious life in jukeboxes, teenage bedrooms, and smoky DJ booths.
The Sun side features the legendary “Mystery Train,” one of the defining records of rockabilly and American popular music. Sparse, haunted, rhythmic, and dangerous, this recording helped invent the sound that would soon shake the entire culture loose from the 1950s.
The RCA Victor side contains “I Forgot To Remember To Forget,” Elvis’ first #1 country hit and one of the records that bridged his Sun years to worldwide superstardom.
This copy comes from the private collection of a legendary Detroit crate-digger and one-time DJ and bears heavy evidence of his preservation and cataloging methods — including taped label repairs, handwritten inscriptions, etched notations, and archival markings. The roughness honestly adds to the artifact quality here. This feels less like a clean collector copy and more like a survivor from the front lines of rock ’n’ roll history.
Condition:
Visually graded. Heavy label wear, tape residue, collector writing, scuffing, scratches, and handling wear throughout. Small crack, repaired with tape reinforcement along outer edge/dead wax. Vinyl still retains some gloss and presents as an authentic vintage working copy.
